While nearing the
completion of a thirty-four year banking career, I decided that it was time to realize upon a career-long dream, that of
owning my own business. I have spent most of my adult life as a banker, counseling with
small business owners, analyzing and financing their needs and selling them
banking services.
A native of Cartersville, GA ,
I am a 1968 graduate of
the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business. I have done post graduate
work at the University of Georgia and attended the National School of Credit and
Financial Management at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth
College.
My
banking career includes twenty-eight years of retail and
commercial banking with one of the largest commercial banks in the United States
and six years as an Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer with a
small community bank on the north side of Atlanta.
Armed with the training and skills afforded
me from
many years of
serving with large and small banks, I have set out to offer my analytical skills
individually to a small business community that already has its financing in
place but which may need assistance in finding better ways to finance growth. I
consult with banks regarding their loan portfolios or with their commercial
borrowers who may need counseling for their business's financing needs.
I am a Professional Member of the Risk Management Association
(RMA), an Associate Member of the Community Bankers Association of Georgia (CBA),
and a member of the Dekalb Chamber of Commerce.
For the CBA, I have taught classes in Principles of Collection, Bankruptcy
from a Banker's Perspective, and Commercial Appraisal Reviews. I am also an
instructor for the Georgia Bankers Association where I have taught courses in Analyzing Financial
Statements, Commercial Lending, and Principles of
Banking. I am an elder of the Decatur Presbyterian Church where I sing
in the Chancel Choir, and I am active in several civic endeavors in Metro
Atlanta.
